Pole Barn Concrete Floor Thickness
Dear guru my husband and i are getting ready to construct a pole barn 40 x 80.
Pole barn concrete floor thickness. It will be used for heavy equipment storage and workshop florist shop to keep critters out. We had a contractor recommend a 6 floor and 4 ft cement walls which i m guessing drives the price up substantially. 3 8 or 1 2 will be fine. Concrete in pole barn advice another point is to use no less than 30mpa concrete at 3 5 to 4 inch thickness.
No need for the 4000 or 5000 lb mixes in your application. So how thick should you pour your floor. If a thicker floor is desired excavate below skirt board bottom by any slab thickness greater than 4. If you are just storing toys lawnmowers and cars in the pole barn then 4 of concrete will more than suffice.

Concrete floor thickness for heavy equipment. It will handle the load of of your vehicle tractor as well as provide some resistance to salt erosion from road salt or other source. I almost always use 2x6 form materials and pour my floors 4 5 to 5 thick. After the concrete floor has been poured about 3 inches of the skirt board should be visible above the slab.
I would advise against use fo fiber in your concrete becuase it doesnt finish as well. Dirt and gravel floors are subject to erosion when drainage is a concern for your site location. Check your local building code s requirements on a concrete floor your local building code will specify the required thickness of the concrete slab the size of the wire mesh the thickness of the gravel or sand layer and the size and location of the rebar. Dirt and gravel floors are cheap but they are also hard to keep clean and maintain.
If you have heavier equipment you may want to consider flooring up to 6 thick for better wear and tear. No matter what type of pole barn flooring you re thinking of make sure to consider how you ll be using the pole barn. Will it primarily be for storing equipment. Will it primarily be for storing equipment.
Prior to pouring a nominal 4 3 1 2 actual completed thick concrete slab in building finished graded compacted fill top will be even with skirt board bottom. Use plenty of rebar to stabalize the slab.
